I was told one year by someone reliable that Big Event was trying hard for Austin and, the way it was described to me, I bought a figure for him to sign because thought it was going to happen.
I doubt they were even close. Again, it's a nice little convention, but they've never gotten someone who has been untouchable at other wrestling cons. Those guys can't go spend 75-100K on one person to bring in, that's crazy. Has to be a Flair or Hogan or Hart or Michaels who has a lower number. Those guys WANT to do signings. Austin, Taker, Rock (before exploding), they don't or don't need to.
Agreed. I don't think it was "close" presay but it certainly seemed like a long-shot possibility.

For what it’s worth, had a potential booker tell me Hogan was 55k and that was right before the Gawker settlements.

What’s crazy is, after seeing him, I think you do make the money back.

If any of you guys need Hulk just get a cheap flight down to florida for one of his signings there...he signs much cheaper than if at Big Event. Few years ago I was getting him for 60 an item....

Liddell isn’t for me but most headline guests aren’t. I was hoping for Hogan on an autograph level but oh well. I’m more annoyed about Colonel Parker cancelling.

Me too but there's a good chance he'll be re-booked for the next one

its crazy to think what an Austin combo would cost at a con. In 1997 he did free signing at manhattan mall and then a few months later he did one at a place in Brooklyn called fun time USA. Then after he won the title he did a paid signing in L.I and they charged a whooping $25 for a combo.

If Hogan was to make it to this show, I'll gladly make the drive from Cherry Hill to Queens for him.

I remember hitting a record store in NY (on the NY/NJ border at that big mall) at least 6-7 years ago when one of Austin's movie's came out on dvd- I can't remember exactly but I think it was get 2 items signed and a posed behind the table picture for the cost of the dvd...I wound up getting lucky that two girls on line behind me had no items to get signed so I think I wound up getting another 3 done as well... this was the week of wrestlemania; I was there with wewantflair and sadly lanza was flying home from seattle and missed out! good times..

I was at the Fun Time USA signing actually. The bad thing about that place was they never allowed posed photo's (I met Austin, Edge, Dudleys & Lita there). He also did that big signing at FYE in 2003 around when they announced Wrestlemania XX; you met Austin, HHH, Flair, Goldberg, Nash & Trish for $20. I'm just happy I was able to get Austin a few years back for free at a spot when he hosted a Raw.

I met Austin when he did a book signing at Bookends in 2003. Back in the early 2000s he did a lot of signings. What happened?

You didn't go for Brock at fun time. I went to get a figure signed and my friend managed to get a pic with him. We had to be super slick about it. My dad caused a diversion and got the peoples attention and while they looked away my friend asked brock for a pic and he said sure make it quick. As i took tje pic they all flipped out and escorted us out as soon as i got brock and they were on me like white on rice making sure i didn't get a pic with him LOL. I was at the FYE signing. I managed to get nash on my gold card. I sild that poster for like $200

He’s not that cheap anymore. I think he’s $80-100 for an 8x10 at his shops in Clearwater and Orlando but comes with a photo. No separate photo only price which would be great for a grapher like me. I paid $150 at the TriStar National in Atlantic City a couple years back(poster). No pic and worst run show ever, btw. This was after watching people rack up on combos on his Facebook Live arriving the airport. Grounded the knife in alittle worse. Factoring in flight, not sure it’s worth it to head down to Clearwater. Phillies do do spring training down there so that would be awesome and then hope to run into him at the shop for free.
