People actually thought RDJ, Depp, Ford were in play
RDJ has a con fee. So it's not that unbelievable

Why do you keep insisting this? I highly doubt he does, the man would rather skin himself alive than be in the company of thousands of strangers.

Why do you keep insisting this?
Because every actor has an appearance fee and conventions are now incredibly lucrative ventures. Actors don't do conventions because they "need money", they do them because they *like* money.

You're both wrong. They picked up a ton of people who never heard of the LFCC, and now they do.
The announcement was made on LFCC's social media, and picked up on sites like this that already had a LFCC discussion thread made for it. So if you never heard of LFCC, you probably weren't in on the hype discussion in the first place. And if you were talking about it, it's likely because you had already heard about the con. So I get creating a "buzz", but I'm not sure how many "never heard of it" type fans they actually picked up.

Also, a good percentage of the people they possibly could have "picked up" likely don't live in the UK, and likely wouldn't have flown in even if it was Arnold, Depp, etc. So I don't really see how teasing a bigger name really accomplished much rather than unnecessarily positioning Eccleston as a letdown from what those people were expecting.
No such thing as bad publicity.
You mean like a couple of weeks ago when MonsterMania was getting literally thousands of comments within a couple of hours on their FB, and getting multiple media write-ups discussing their con? How would Dave Hagan have described that publicity? :hahaaa:

Mark Strong, a much bigger star than Eccleston, added.
Also added are Mark Henry, Lita, Tatanka, Sarah Douglas and Jack O'Halloran as well as a nice THE LAST STARFIGHTER reunion with Nick Castle, Lance Guest and Catherine Mary Stewart.
