Outage

Post by wewantflair » January 20th, 2017, 5:51 pm

Wow, what a week.

Just to update everyone, the other night I attempted to do a software upgrade in order to solve some persistent glitches in the layout and presentation of the board. During the upgrade, we had an outage that somehow broke the server. Our old host was completely unresponsive and unhelpful in getting the situation squared away.

We then decided to switch hosts and began the rather difficult task of migrating all data to a new host. What we have now should be the board at around 90%. You may notice a few things that are missing (mostly cosmetic), and we are working on restoring everything to the way it was.

The following are being addressed:

Smiley functionality
Board logo
Ad banners

If you notice anything else that looks weird, or something that doesn't work properly, please let us know in this thread.

That's really weird. Try clearing your cache. I can't reproduce the problem and I'm also on chrome.

Are you using forum.markedout.com or www.markedout.com? If you're using forum, it's in the middle of populating so it might not work 100% for everyone yet. Use www.markedout.com

Very pleased to say that all my goals for tonight are already completed. We appear to be 100% functional. http://forum.markedout.com might not work until tomorrow (it works for me, but others report issues). Otherwise, we should be at 100%. Please let me know of any issues.

For what it's worth, http://forum.markedout.com should also be working. If it's wonky, that means the name server hasn't fully propagated to you. But it's likely working for everyone now.

Smiley display fixed, but when you are writing a post, they are coming up FULL SIZE in the right bar, and makes choosing them quite difficult.

Shit, you're right. I need to check the settings, that may necessitate making them small again.

I disagree. They're easier to look at and choose. I prefer this.

MODS just keep it that way

We won't be keeping them this way. It's awful.
