Re: Writing Columns for the website
There should be a submission process but it should be more like a traditional editorial one. Someone proposes an idea for a column and the admins approve or reject the idea. We have someone serving as an editor who will receive submissions and approve them or require editing and resubmission. When a piece meets the editor's standards, it's published.

This. We won't be getting paid of the article makes it.cmshowstopper wrote:I'm with Class. I'm not writing a column and have it not printed. This isnt a job. I understand you dont want pieces of crap that are badly written to be printed. But then I would suggest you have people submit prior pieces of work or some sort of sample to ensure quality. But having 5 or 6 people submit something each week or 2 and only select 1 or 2....isnt worth my time personally. This was me volunteering my time to help...not waste it to have it not printed.
I can understand telling joe nobody "submit and we'll review it" but the likes of me and CM who have been posting reports and rants for a while should be established enough that our content can be trusted to be good and non-offensive.

I would be fine with a more relaxed submission process with nearly anything non offensive flying on the forum like Lanza said, with more strict main page standards like Flair mentioned. Let's not turn this whole thing into a hw assignment.

Exactly...u post rants class.....key word being ranys....this was supposed to be a simple fun thing, but it seems to have turned into a monster

Yeah this is fun. No bitching, no rough drafts or grading, just fun. I respect the opinions and input but this isn't going to turn into another smiley fiasco. If our eventual plan doesn't work for you, exit the thread. The fun won't be extinguished.

Re: Writing Columns for the website
What massive ego's we have here on the boards when people won't even try and post something up in fear that someone might not like it and they might of wasted their time without any egotistical or financial gain.

Bottom line is if I told the MODS "I want to make an article about Preparing yourself for a stalking mission" I would expect reasonable odds that it will be posted or I won't waste my time.

Than dont write...go make more fake smilies and more shrugs

Yeah but what if it's the shits?class316 wrote:Bottom line is if I told the MODS "I want to make an article about Preparing yourself for a Meeting mission" I would expect reasonable odds that it will be posted or I won't waste my time.
You're educated on the subject but that isnt really enough to write an article. You have to make it flow thats where the talent comes from. It has to be enjoyable to read. If a Mod reads a article and it's shit they can't just post it up because Class316 wrote it.
That would be showing favouritism :sigh:

People obviously read my reports and they read stories like the dog piss and the $95 towing fee. So obviously I can write. It should be because mods know I can write, not cause I wrote it.

Re: Writing Columns for the website
This is so ridiculous..........u write stories about dog piss for nothing, explain the difference between that and a column
Re: Writing Columns for the website
Yes but i understand they want a professional image for their site. People will read it but that doesent necessarily mean it's written well.class316 wrote:People obviously read my reports and they read stories like the dog piss and the $95 towing fee.
