I did something I haven't done in a while and paid $50 for something non essential outside of WW, Chiller, or NYCC!

I bought the Superman Anthology on Blu Ray from Best Buy! http://www.amazon.com/Superman-Picture- ... +anthology

I feel a little dirty for spending a mid level 2 figured number on that, but that set used to got for $100. At Target they have it for $60 so even with the 5% discount via my Target credit card it's still more than the $53 including tax at Best Buy. This was also on par with the cheapest online prices.

You get all these:

Superman: The Movie, Original Theatrical
Superman: The Movie, Expanded Edition
Superman II, Original Theatrical
Superman II - The Richard Donner Cut
Superman III Theatrical Version
Superman IV The Quest For Peace Theatrical Version
Superman Returns

Got the 2005 King Kong from the $7.88 bin at walmart. Cheapest price I ever found for this 2005 Peter Jackson epic. Kudos to Peter Jackson for remaining faithful to the original rather than cave in to political correctness :like:

Got the Criterion edition of the 1954 Godzilla movie sealed for like $12 from an online seller. That's a good deal. For those who don't know this is the film that launched the iconic Japanese monster.

Hope to one day find a cheap deal on the blu ray booklet of the 1933 King Kong.

Blu Rays I would LIKE to purchase but have no money to do so

King King (blu ray digi book, 1933 version)
DW Griffith's Intolerance (Cohen media blu ray release)
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (Criterion 2 disc blu ray set)
The Blue Angel/Der blaue Engel (KINO 2 disc blu ray set)
Metropolis (Masters of Cinema UK blu ray set)
Nosferatu (Masters of Cinema UK blu ray set)

I did however purchase the NEW blu ray of the first Robocop movie from Best Buy for $8 :like: This one features a new transfer and some good extras (and is the unrated cut): http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/9 ... L1500_.jpg

I just got the Canadian blu ray of The Downfall for $13 shipped on ebay (which included the $0.96 discount in ebay bucks)

Downfall (Blu-ray/DVD, 2012, Canadian) $13.95 USD
Shipping and handling $0.00 USD
Insurance - not offered
Other discounts -$0.96 USD

Total

Glad to finally upgrade my US DVD release :like:

When I have time to watch the blu ray perhaps I will make a critique on it.

I've found sales a bit lackluster so far. I bought much less than usual, but I still got a few things like Skyfall for $6, The Intouchables for $8, Grimm Season 1 BR for $12.99, Person of Interest season 3 for $15.

DVD wise, picked up Chicago PD Season 1 for $5, Criminal Minds seasons 7 & 8 for $10 each.

I am sure I get more before it's said and done, but def less than usual that felt must buy.

Picked up Grimm last year for same price. Just ordered Person of Interest season 2 and 3 for 13.99 each. Hannibal Season 1 for 9.99. Couple more 3.99 ones as well. As far as dvd go i dont think i scooped that much

Some good deals if you still needed that stuff. I have been trying to lower my price point a bit, for example Arrow, Vampire Diaries and The Originals, all on my list but $26 is too high for nothing I need to watch right now. I will wait a few years for them to get under $20. Years past I would have likely bitten on $26.

Same goes for other movies. In Time, which was a film I really liked at $8, not a bad price but I see it $3.99 in the future and since I don't need to watch it now, I wait until next year.

Then there are a few things I would have ordinarily bought, like Blacklist season 1 or American Hustle for $6, but I am just thinking will I ever truly rewatch these things? And the answer is likely no.

Plus I am trying not to buy anything on Netflix unless I absolutely love it, like The Intouchables.

Agree. Got Arrow at under 15 last year. No way am I bitting at 26 or 20 for that matter. Did end up getting American Hustle and Gatsby for under 5 (used price plus shipping)

Those are good prices.

I ended up grabbing the last season of Breaking Bad on Blu Ray for $9.99. White Collar Season 4 on DVD for $6.99. Chicago Fire Season 1 on DVD for $9.99.

Still not the year I've had in the past thus far, but some good deals from my want list. Hope I get more before it's all said and done.

I bought two blu rays on black friday and they are the only things I actually bought. They cost $8 total

Fight Club 10th anniversary edition - Figured since I got that Brad Pitt photo op now is a good time to enjoy the movie

Clint Eastwood two in one: Dirty Harry and Magnum Force

So three blu ray movie discs for $8, pretty decent!
