I can understand the feeling towards Superman. He has never been at the top of my list....and thats one of the reasons. I still like Superman, just not at the top. I prefer characters with flaws.WOODMO wrote:Personally I watched it for Batman. I only saw Man of Steel last week because I now needed to catch up for Batman. I find the Superman character dull, too powerful, etc. As a character he doesn't do much for me even though Cavill does a fine job.
I never thought it was going to be a true Superman sequel. They wanted to introduce Batman before the Batman movie so this was a good chance to work in the origin story and establish the character.
BUT....this Superman certainly isnt all that powerful, if he is gonna that easily.
They should have had the Batman movie come out first then. Or, as most will know his basic origin story, not rehash it during Superman's sequel. It was announced as BvS at SDCC, where they announced it as a Superman sequel. The Batman origin story could be rehashed in his own movie. They didnt provide WW origin story, but still was able to introduce her and insert her into the movie without it. And lets face it, her origin story is less known than Batman's.
Snyder stated he opted to kill Superman off because he wanted Bruce Wayne to assemble the Justice League. He felt that if Superman was around, the other super heroes would be too easy to convince to join. He wants Bruce to have a hard time putting the team together. He stated that Superman is like the cool kid everyone wants to hang out with. No one is gonna say no if Superman came knocking and if Batman came and said Supes and I are putting together a team....the next question would be, where is Supes? Thats dumb. They could have easily had Bruce put the team together with Superman being the LAST to join. Just b/c he accepted Bruce's help against Doomsday, doesnt mean he believes that a team is needed or that it wont just endanger more people. THATS the conflict in putting the team together.
Another interesting read was how Christopher Nolan was completely against killing Superman, but in the end went along with it.
