Were the Mets wrong to sign Jose Reyes after hitting his wife?

Post by WOODMO » June 27th, 2016, 12:35 pm

I personally can't stand the outrage.

Women are equal to men. I don't think anyone would disagree with that. They have positions as firefighters, police, military soldiers, yet we as a culture still view assaulting a woman worse than assaulting a man. Why? Assault is assault, all are bad, whether it is male or female. If we start weighing size differences, then men attacking smaller men needs to be met with similar discretion. I just don't agree with the idea that women are equal, at times, but unequal at other times when we need to protect them. It's all or nothing to me, in terms of equality.

Jose served his suspension, which I could argue was excessive given no conviction, but I will let the league police cases of assault as they see fit. I think he is a great pickup given the team's needs and he was always a favorite of mine. But after reading an ESPN article condemning the team for doing it, I wanted to open it up to discussion.

A crime is a crime. Technically he didn't commit one. He'll pull a quad in a few days and in typical Mets style, be day to day for the rest of the year, and never play.

Such a worry wart Greg!! I think he'll contribute nicely and be a solid lead off hitter which Granderson has never been

Reyes cant play. This aint 2006, 2007. Its 2016. Dudes a bum. He will NOT solve the Mets hitting issues and I would much rather have Granderson, even if he is inconsistant. The Mets need to use the leverage they have with pitching and go after Trout.
