And a dual photo op with both Megapowers would have been holy grail level awesome.
Even more painful that this photo op would have been theoretically possible.
Hogan was doing cons and Savage was healthy enough to do cons.
 would have been more than willing to pay him 50K to do his show, yet he refused that and more money from other promoters.
Instead he chose to do scrub voice roles in cartoons
Most people work all year and don't make 50K, he could have made it in a few hours just sitting down, scribbling "Macho Man" and posing for photo ops. I guess Savage at a con just made too much sense for all parties involved, hence why it never came to fruition.
Truly truly tragic
To my knowledge of Savage he was a recluse who had a very private home with a big fence so clearly he was not a people person. He also did well with his money and due to a unique voice managed to make a move into voice acting. I say he likely died with millions of dollars in the bank with another few million in assets.
If you look at Savage's financial situation, he would be getting royalties out of the WWE's DVD's etc featuring him. You then have Spiderman which probably netted Savage 50,000 or so. Voice roles in kids cartoons are very lucrative as well so I'm sure he made a lot from that and then you throw in the merchandising and other secondary payments for those kids movies. 50,000 was likely nothing to him so why do something you hate just for money you don't need?
For me there is nothing sadder than old stars having to angrily do the convention circuit because they blew their money/don't work anymore so I say good for Savage. If he legitimately didn't feel comfortable meeting the fans then I'm happy for him. I'd rather Savage want to be there and be happy meeting the fans compared to him angrily sitting there and just signing things and then be labelled a "dick"
