Well, I was into the NJ indy wrestling scene in the early 2000's, so it was kinda hard NOT to bump into Snuka back then, since he was at pretty much every high school gym show in the area at the time. I believe the show I got him at was billed as the final ever match between him and Metal Maniac...which I believe (of course) ultimately was NOT the final match between the two, lol.

TBH, I haven't followed the indy scene in a while, so I can't tell you for sure. But if Nikolai Volkoff still takes indy bookings at his age, I would guess Metal Maniac would still show up until he's physically unable to get into a ring.

Jeff Miller, known by his ringname Metal Maniac is an American professional wrestler who has competed in Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic independent promotions throughout the 1990s including Century Wrestling Alliance, East Coast Professional Wrestling, World Xtreme Wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance.

During the early 1990s, he was one of the earliest wrestlers to compete in Extreme Championship Wrestling where he not only faced many of the top stars in the promotion but also his own trainers Don Muraco[1] and Jimmy Snuka,[2] both holding the ECW Heavyweight and Television titles respectively.[3]

Involved in a feud with "Hitman" Tony Stetson during 1992,[4][5] he would later appear on ECW Hardcore TV as well as supercards including NWA Bloodfest.[6]

He would briefly hold the WXW Heavyweight Championship in World Xtreme Wrestling[7] and was the first CWA Television champion in Tony Rumble's Century Wrestling Alliance during the late 1990s[7] before moving to Hawaii to compete in NWA Hawaii.[8]

Strange Metal Maniac never really made it to cons especially since he's an ECW original.

Regarding Nikolai, I don't believe he still wrestles at Indy shows?

He's still doing it. I doubt he "travels the circuit" much anymore, but he apparently still takes local northeast bookings.

Nikolai can put on a pretty good show for the indy crowds. He gets a lot of bookings throughout the year. The matches last about five minutes, sometimes are tag matches and you may not see anything close to what Hardy Boys could ever do but in the short matches Nikolai has what a lot of the other wrestlers on the show really do not have and that is the charisma and the character talent to hold the audience. He is actively accepting bookings for in ring matches.

Metal Maniac was also at that Mahwah show.

Honestly, at his age I believe he is risking bodily injury by wrestling. He already made it more than many others as he's both alive and healthy, quit while ahead.

Maybe so but he feels he's the healthiest he's been in all his life. He works out regularly and his meals consist of pretty much anything you'd find at a health food store.

OJ Simpson to do a NE signing?

Post by class316 » July 17th, 2017, 11:20 pm

So if he's released on parole Brian Barth wants to do a signing. If that happens will you pay for an auto, photo, or combo?

I'd probably be in for the photo op.

Great topic. I was just discussing this today and have had brief conversations before on it. Honestly, I am not sure. Financially, I think Barth could do quite well with the signing. He may also be pressed with protesters, bad press, etc. If the man goes free, on the robbery charges as this has "nothing to do with the murders", there will be a large contending group that will look at him as murderer and how could any company give this man a dime. He will spark outrage for sure.

However, he is still OJ Simpson. Theres people like Class and Joretsky...that HAVE to have the guy. He's still OJ Simpson, Heisman winner and NFL star running back. There will be people that want footballs, jerseys, cards signed. Hell, OJ has done privates in prison already.

On a dollar and cents perspective, its a no brainer. On a marketing, reputation and possible protesting....might not be worth the headache. Might be better off bringing him to a place like CSA and force them to deal with all of it, remaining just the lowly dude sitting next to him and collecting the cash.

For myself, I am not 100% sure what I would do. I am leaning towards...yes I would get a photo. Think of all the cool poses you could do. You could do the Heisman. You could do the throat slash. You could do the choke. You could try on black gloves. You could get a blonde woman to join the photo and choke her like she is nothing more than a prop for the photo. Hi R. Kelly.

I followed the trial very closely while in high school. I was sure the man was innocent. Innocent in the fact that I did not believe he PHYSICALLY did the killing and that instead someone else did. Now after seeing the OJ Simpson Made in America documentary combined with some of the stupid shit OJ has said and done since his trial...not only do I THINK he physically did it, I think his oldest son helped him. Back in his day as a football player and even moving forward in his acting ventures....the man thought he was an untouchable god. He was worshiped. I think he, more than anyone, put himself so high on a pedestal....he never thought any man, woman or child could take him down. He was OJ. Beating the murder charge....only lent to reassuring OJ of this.

Curious to hear what other members would do...whether to get an auto or photo or refuse to.

Honestly this is a damn good novelty shot to me. I'd get the photo op (ideally, split)
