How far have you traveled for this hobby?

Post by Btvsp3 » March 24th, 2018, 6:27 pm

Inspired by the discussion in the London Film and Comic Con thread, I’m curious how far have you traveled for this hobby? Whether a con, a street meet, or a signing how far have you gone for the sole purpose of meeting a celebrity? Also who was the celeb in question that you traveled for? My furthest will be DC next weekend for Awesome Con. My main reasons for going are Tom Welling, the Boy Meets World guys, and Charisma Carpenter. That’s about as far as I’d consider traveling to be honest.

I travelled to LA for a Fangoria show about 10 years ago, but it wasn't for one single celeb, I probably had a dozen or more decent wants at the time. I'll probably be at the Hollywood Show next month too, primarily for Peter Mark Richman, who's about 90, and doesn't seem to do anything BUT the Hollywood Show.

Although it isn't nearly as far of a distance, I've also travelled to Canada for street meets - two horror names (Paul Kelman and Melyssa Ade) who never venture out of Canada.

NYC from Long Island (60 minute drive) is as far as I’d ever go on a chance street meet.

Ohio for Arnold though was my biggest trip

I take the train in from Long Island too and that’s as far as I’ll go for street meets also. :like:

The farthest I have traveled for a convention was about an hour and 15 minutes by plane from NJ to NC for a one tree hill convention in 2015. I was going to go to Chicago next month for HVFF Chicago, but it didn’t work out. If I decide to travel that far for a convention, I would turn it into a vacation trip. I’ve gone to book signings about an hour away, too.

I usually drive to Queens, park and take the subway. It’s quicker and I operate on my own schedule

So far my farthest flight was Orlando for Star Wars. Followed by the hellish delayed flight to Chicago plus overnight bus to Cincinnati, and flight home. Longest drive obviously to Columbus for Arnold. Longest train is to DC.

For street meet I'd only do NY or LI. Farthest I traveled for a meet was Chicago (Paige, Undertaker, Amell & Spinney).

I flew from DC to LA to meet Dick Van Dyke at the Hollywood Show a couple of years ago. Sure, I got some other names while I was there, but the trip was for him. Spent the night in the host hotel and flew back the next morning.

I routinely drive a 10 hour round trip to Chiller twice a year.

Flew to Cali a few years ago for a Hollywood show...would def go back if names I really wanted.

Flew to Tampa for undertaker/fcw years back, as well as Atlanta for wm...

Longest drive was the pwhof when it used to be in New York, or maybe signamania/ Blaustein show in Pennsylvania. Think my Long Island drives , which there were a couple, were closer than those.

Furthest was a flight from DC to Orlando last year to mainly get Mark Hamill & Sarah Michelle Gellar at Star Wars celebration. Previous before that was just going to my first con ever in Chicago.

The furthest I’ve ever traveled was from Baltimore to Seattle to meet Ichiro. After that it would be Baltimore to Las Vegas for the Backstreet Boys
