PW Insider: Lincoln Center for the Performance Arts being considered for WM activities

Post by ICW »

Via F4W Daily Update:

[PW Insider] also reported this morning that WWE officials are looking at The Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts as a potential venue for next year’s WrestleMania activities. The complex features acts such as the Metropolitan Opera, The New York Philharmonic and the New York Ballet.

Here's PW Insider's report: https://www.pwinsider.com/article/12020 ... k.html?p=1
World Wrestling Entertainment officials were at The Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, a NYC complex that houses the Metropolitan Opera, The New York Philharmonic, The New York Ballet and more in different theaters, looking at their historic venues for potential use over Wrestlemania week next year in New York City, PWInsider.com can exclusively confirm.

While the company is still looking for a location for the 2018 AXXESS gathering, the theatrical set-up of the venues in the Lincoln Center Complex would not lend itself to that convention-style event. It would appear the company may have been looking at the Complex for another reason, perhaps its annual presentation meeting with partners and licensees, its usual jobs fair for military veterans or even another new, potential event that has never been done over Wrestlemania weekend.

Lincoln Center is located just a short distance from mid-town Manhattan, which would put it within reach of the Barclays Center, where all the Wrestlemania week live events as well as Metlife Stadium, where Wrestlemania 35 will take place in April 2019.

Since it opened in 1955, Lincoln Center has never hosted am actual professional wrestling event, but did house the New York City premiere screening of Mickey Rourke's film The Wrestler at Avery Fisher Hall at the Complex in October 2008.

Meh, he's speculating that it could be their annual presentation meeting w/partners and licensees.

It doesn't sound like a good convention set-up. MAYBE a place for a meet and greet?

Someone at Summerslam Axxess was telling me that as of now, Javits has a college fair Wrestlemania weekend, but Triple H was trying to pay them to move the fair to the weekend before or after Wrestlemania.

According to the Javits Center site, the NACAC National College Fair is Sunday, April 7th.

They'll probably need a couple of days to set-up, no? I doubt they do it all Sunday morning lol. They probably need Saturday to set-up.

Of course. Not sure what ur getting at though. HHH isnt in charge of WWE for starters and this isnt something where you just offer money and they will move schedules for wwe axxess. Hence I say its bullshit

Oh, I'm not saying that rumor is true. I'm just saying that the Javits is booked for Mania weekend and, personally, I wouldn't be shocked if WWE tried to push out the college fair. It's probably their best business decision.

No clue -- maybe it ended up being a mistake that they're trying to rectify this time around? Maybe not! We'll see.

It certainly makes things **easier** if most of the festivities but WrestleMania was around midtown Manhattan. Well, easier for me at least :ohyeah:
