Glossy vs Matte

Post by Gumby »

When you are getting your photos and posters printed, do you prefer glossy or matte? What are the pros and cons of each and where do you prefer to print your stuff?

I normally do Matte (Costco calls it Lustre), because they you don't have fingerprints on it and what not.

I used to do Glossy but have long since moved to Matte/Lustre.

Costco is the place for all graphers. $2 per 8x10 and $4 per 11x14. Can't be beat. And even if you want a bunch of family photos printed their prices for 5x7 prints cannot be beat. My $60/year Costco membership card has paid for itself over and over.

But you have to make sure you print at a costco that has crystal archive photo paper and not quality dry photo paper. The latter is no good for autographs.
