Not that it's not shitty, but couldn't people get around the 1000 pic limit by creating new accounts with different email addresses?

Yes. But current accounts with more than 1000 pics are screwed

I make use of the Flickr app on my phone a lot, so I'll probably have to subscribe for now. Plus, if you posted reports, odds are the photos could be dropped.

Of course, AFTER I paid for a year of PRO, but Flickr back in March announced that any Creative Commons licensed photos will not count against the 1,000 limit.

https://blog.flickr.net/2019/03/08/upda ... -accounts/

If you set images to CC (ND No Derivatives) they can't be used on say Wikipedia, i.e., nobody will bother using them. I assume you could also set to any CC license and keep the photos visible privately, too, that might work.

Wait, so that means photos already there in excess of 1000 won't be deleted?

They'd have to be set to a Creative Commons license to not be counted. I'd use Attribution-NonCommerical-NoDerivs.

Flickr has gone down hill. The app stripped quite a few features I used. They are also unable to back up iPhone Live Photos in their Live Photo format, which both Amazon Prime and Google Photo does. In addition, videos on Flickr take forever to start playing. On Amazon and Google they play instantly.

Seems there is no way to do this en mass unless you buy a pro

https://help.flickr.com/en_us/change-yo ... -B1SxTmjkX

Which means I have to do this over 2000 times for my over 3000 photos :killme:

hmm....I could pay $5.99 for just one month, change everything to creative commons, then cancel membership.

update: Pro bought for a month, 3000+ images changed to Attribution-NonCommerical-NoDerivs, membership canceled.
