Bid has towered 4K!

On a separate note I've never seen a case of an officially released cut out wrestling autograph. This may be a first.

Wonder if André would be doing signings if he was still alive?

I actually don't think he'd do too many.

Hard but not impossible. There are similar cards for the likes of George Washington and Adolf Hitler. So I'm sure some Andres must exist. Former board member Ray Duct once told me that he actually got Andre in person.

Now how to ever be sure that such autos are real or fake, that's another story.

This would actually be a good topic, what wrestlers would have done signings had they lived. I think Owen Hart, Rick Rude, Earthquake, and Mr Perfect would have been virgils had they lived.

Andre had pretty good handwriting and his autograph was always pretty consistent in the quality. This is slightly messier, but still nice, since it's a smaller item. Most signed items of his that come on market are pieces of paper (pre-heel run where he became nasty to fans) but still not a lot comes on market so I wonder if those who have Andre items just wont part with them. I also think some of the stuff beckett and PSA authenticates is probably junk. Again, his autograph has always been consistently the same yet these "authenticated" items the autographs are usually pretty off. I also don't think there's that much material out there for so many items to be authenticated. I know one guy has a large collection of authenticated Andres.

That's what I thought. This looks messy compared to others I've seen.

That's why authentication services are bogus. You're paying for an opinion. Sadly these opinions help sell the item.

Let's see some photos of your buddy's authenticated Andres.

It's no one I know personally and I don't know which site I originally saw the items on. Google images will probably bring up some of them. He just has a large Andre autograph collection. A few are some sort of Japanese boards that he has Andre and Giant Baba on. Another authenticated item is a trading card which looks like someone scribbled on it but I don't think it's Andre. There's also a signed Andre baseball on google images though the autograph is so perfect it's probably fake. I think Andre would have trouble signing a baseball. And one of the 1991 WWF mags has a Toy Fair party write up with a picture of Andre at a table signing autographs for little kids. I wonder where those signed photos wound up. Andre's always fascinated me because from the accounts of his friends he was an amazing man but fans meeting him, mostly during his heel days, report him as mean.

I met his daughter at NYCC a few years ago and attended her panel. She revealed quite a bit about Andre's final days and he was a broken, broken man.

Broken how and in what why?

While not on the most ideal item, here's a much cheaper Andre auto that looks about the same as this certified one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/303062542423

Here's a PSA one that sold for under 1K, a steal by today's standards: http://www.iconicauctions.com/lot-44890.aspx
