I wasn't aware of that fact, but from my understanding these were just people waiting to buy tickets at the box office. I know on the venue's website you had like 1h wait time a la NYCC.AJLe wrote: ↑April 3rd, 2018, 2:31 pm I have no idea when or where you were taking pictures, but Hamilton demand is so high they have $10 lottery tickets they give out (very few), and $40 standing room only tickets that they sell in the cancellation line.
If people just wanted to pay the hefty full price (or more), those tickets can easily be bought through ticketmaster or secondary ticket markets 24/7 from the comfort of home, so I really doubt that is what the line you saw was for. It was likely either a cancellation/standby line, or some sort of discount ticket availability.

Re: People camp out in the freezing cold for Hamilton tickets
I just googled "Hamilton tickets NYC", and the very first result was a ticketmaster link. Clicked right on it, literally no wait time, and I was offered a range of tickets between 500 and 800 bucks that I could buy right now.
Like I said, if somebody's willing to pay those face-value prices, they wouldn't be camping out, they'd click on that link and just pay the money from home. The only reason people would camp out is likely standby tickets for sold out shows, or (more likely) for lottery or standing room cheap seats that would save them several hundred dollars.

This wasn't nyc. Even the venue site had a nycc style online queue.

There's also a difference in spending money at a box office vs. stalking celebrities at airports and hotels for hours and hours.

So you're saying that to avoid waiting an hour in an online queue, they're waiting outside for likely a lot MORE than an hour in the cold? That makes no sense. BTW, DC venue Hamilton links come right up with tickets available and no queue either anyway - via stubhub, etc.
It's 2018 - everybody buys face value or secondary market tickets online. If they're camping out, it's for last minute standby/lottery/discount/etc.
Re: People camp out in the freezing cold for Hamilton tickets
My guess is they thought they had a better shot at good seats in person than online.
Stub hub is secondary market. Again tickets to shows at this venue are always sold via their site.
