I mean, that Goofy smoking scene was sorely missed....
You mock, but yes it was! It sparked major outrage when it was censored for the DVD, and when this was announced for blu ray fans everywhere were praying that the scene would be restored. Now everyone is ecstatic.
Having old cartoons (be it Disney, Warner Bros, Walter Lantz, MGM, etc etc) in their original uncensored form is the wet fantasy and demand of movie/cartoon fans everywhere.
Personally, I hate cigarettes and smoking with a passion. You won't find very many people more anti-smoking than me. Yet I loath censorship of cigarettes and smoking in cartoons.
One another notable incident of cigarette/smoking censorship in Disney was in the Pecos Bill segment of the Melody Time DVD. He had a cigarette in basically every scene and it was digitally removed. In one scene he lit a cigarette with a lightning rod so that was cut entirely. I actually bought the R2 UK DVD years ago which features that segment completely un altered.
However, the fact that this blu ray restored Goofy smoking elevates my hopes of an uncensored Melody Time blu ray
